John Heald is a friend.
When I made the initial post about my plans to keep a cruise journal I failed to mention one other possible obstacle. I took along a brand-new laptop computer that I got only two days before we left home. I’ve resisted upgrading from MS Windows 7 to Windows 8 and that’s what is installed on the new computer. So I could try to blame it on that.
But the real reason I didn’t post any updates is one that I did predict, although I originally meant it as a kind of joke. It turns out that I really was “having so much fun that I didn’t want to take the time to do it!”
I’ve come home from this cruise with some really nice memories. But I’ve also come away from it with a lot more admiration and respect for those folks who do post rather detailed descriptions of their cruises. It’s clear to me that it takes quite a bit of personal discipline.
What does this mean for the future? I’m really not sure. We have another cruise coming up real soon. Between now and then I’m going to think about whether I should try again, come up with some other approach, or just forget about it.
